Our reception pupils have been impressing us already with just how ready for school they are. They are also working with Durham School Sports’ Partnership coaches to progress their cycling skills. Using the balance bikes, the children will undertake a six-week training programme to get going on their own pedal bikes.
A new school year and a new footie season is underway. Our Y5/6 team will play over the next few weeks in Durham SSP’s League 1 at Meadowfield. We wish you lots of luck and hope you have fun representing our school on the pitch.
Performing our dance routines on the stage of the Gala Theatre in Durham city is one of our favourite events of the year. This time, we took our Y6 class to reprise their performance of ‘The Greatest’ by Sia. That was followed by a ‘Mary Poppins Medley’ performed by a KS2 dance team who scooped the award for ‘most energetic routine’ on the day. Well done to all of our dancing stars.
It’s not often we get the chance to take the whole school out together on a trip but when the opportunity arose to visit the newly opened Beacon of Light at Sunderland, we just couldn’t wait to see inside. Our pupils enjoyed an afternoon of sport in the amazing facilities including the rooftop barn featuring state-of-the-art indoor pitches. Thank you to our friends at the Foundation of Light for inviting us to be part of the EFL’s day of action.
We were thrilled to be able to hold our very first intra-school gymnastics tournament in summer 2018. Our gymnastics club has been going strong since early spring and the standard of all of the competitors was incredibly high, demonstrating moves such as a one-handed cartwheel, splits, straddle and bridge.
Thank you so much to our coach, Cheryl, who has been brilliant all year in getting the children to such a high standard. Well done to all of our gymnasts- you were fabulous!
Well done to all of our competitors in this year’s sports’ day. It was a gloriously sunny day and the event could not have been closer between all four houses. It was lovely to see how many of our supporters bought house scarves to cheer on their favourite team and we were thrilled when the adults joined in with the tug of war.
After a mammoth display of strength in the children’s tug of war, Kepier came out as overall winners for sports’ day 2018. The house of the year for house points in 2018 goes to Hallgarth. Well done to everyone!
Wow! Our Key Stage Two dancers stole the show at the Durham Primary Dance Festival to end the term with a bang! Our routine to ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman had the audience screaming and cheering with delight. That was after an awesome display by Year Six to ‘Ego’ which scooped the award for most original routine. Well done to all- you were AMAZING!
What a fantastic effort made for Sport Relief 2018! We raised over £350 through a day of healthy activity and a coffee morning for the grown-ups. From our two-year-olds to eleven-year-olds everyone joined in with a carousel of sports and games including: javelin, netball, hockey, long-distance running and the floor is lava! Well done everyone- you thoroughly deserve your wristbands.
