We brought forward our studies on UK parliament to coincide with the general election in June. Throughout the week we learnt about the role of parliament, how parties try to attract voters and what living in a democracy means.
On the actual day, children from nursery up to Year 6 took part in elections to get an idea of the process and of our civil responsibility.
In early years, the choice was between individual treats or a shared resource for the whole class and great discussion points were made by children aged 3, 4 and 5.
Further up the school, education elements were on the manifestos and a clear majority of voters went for the introduction of school on Saturdays. What a lovely and clear message from the children who expressed views that they would love to be with us for six days a week!
