Pupils from Reception to Y6 enjoyed a full day of cycling safety experiences with the Durham school sports’ partnership. In assembly, the children discussed how to stay safe when enjoying their cycling and learnt the code of 2V1 to remember when securing their helmets. They then carried out an experiment with Mr ‘Melon Head’ to see the different results when falling with or without a helmet.
Over the day, reception and Year 1 took part in balance bike riding, Year 2 did a cycling safety session, Y4/5 made helmets for eggs and Y6 took part in a fast-paced cycling time-trial.
